Neeki Foundation provides information and assistance with a blend of resources to enhance the quality of healing.
Neeki has expanded its partnerships and collaborations in an effort to improve quality of care for underprivileged individuals suffering from cancer.
Types of Cancer Support for the community includes, but is not limited to:
- Caregivers
- Prevention
- Hope
- Health and recovery
Patient information: We have organized Cancer Forums to provide patients make more informed decisions about their health care. Cancer Forums will be conducted by practitioners presenting information suitable for the patients, their families and carregivers.
Caregivers and Patients’ families: The vital role played by family caregivers in supporting cancer patients is well recognized, but the economic burden and impact on caregivers are poorly understood. We provide a comfortable space for the caregivers and their families to share their stories, stresses, worries and celebrations.
Special Services: We provide assistance for special services such as special medical equipment for in-home care, day-to-day support and nutritional counseling.
Interpretation and translation of existing medical resources: There are psychosocial obstacles, i.e.; cultural and language barriers that can interfere with a person’s healthcare and diminish his or her health and functioning. We provide interpretation and translation services as we are aware that Non-English-speaking patients receive fewer preventive services and have less access to care than English-speaking patients.
Financial and legal assistance: We assist those with insufficient financial resources. There are many support services available for people with cancer, and we put them in touch with the appropriate services to provide an enormous benefit to the patient’s overall care.
Lifestyle changes: For some people, part of their cancer treatment plan includes significant changes in lifestyle and habits. These changes can be difficult to make, and it is important that patients receive the support and resources they need; such as adequate physical activities and proper diet to help relieve side effects to reduce chances of cancer recurrence (the cancer returning after treatment). Neeki has been providing information on diet and nutrition, quitting smoking, physical activity, and weight control.
Other Services: Child Care, Transportation- treatment sessions, Doctor visits, pharmacy, etc. to work, school, and family life. Getting appointments, Dr. visits and picking up prescriptions can be difficult for people who don’t have access to transportation. Even people who do have transportation may find that providing it on their own is difficult if they are feeling ill. We assist with these obstacles.
Emotional Support: Psychosocial Support and Consultation.
Cultural and language barriers can prevent many patients from seeking treatment, taking necessary medications, or attending regular appointments.
Culturally, immigrant patients have a hard time requesting emotional assistance in a direct and open manner. As we are culturally aware and connected to the communities needs, we have been providing the following:
- Spiritual Counseling
- Complementary Therapies
- Advance Directives
- Family Support
